Dolls by Sharon J. Bainbridge

My Nan always kept lots of art and craft books. She introduced me to peg doll making and had a wonderful book on creating Victorian Style peg dolls. I wish I had kept the dolls I made with her!
The above picture shows some little characters I made for a lady that wrote a story called Fairies with Attitude. I ended up keeping the little peg dolls, which my daughter adores. Here are some peg dolls and butterflies I have made.

Nan also had a book on Porcelain doll making. It really interested me so I did a doll making course in Brighton. The doll in the picture below is the doll I used in my Butterfly Lullaby fairy book.

When I wrote Butterfly Lullaby, I decided to make the character dolls too and of course the simplest way was to use good old pegs!

I have always enjoyed designing costumes. Here I made Draculaura into the Princess Butterfly in my book, Butterfly Lullaby.

I adore this Lagoona Blue fish dress. And London Mum's Magazine told me they had the most hits on my blog about this costume I made.

Here are some other costumes I made for the Monster High Dolls.

This little rag doll is one my daughter designed. She made the pattern and gave me instructions on how to make it. And has even written a story based on this gorgeous rag doll.

My daughter created her own little Holly Blue Butterfly wings and costume for a Bratz doll.

This is my attempt at the Cabbage White butterfly for the Bratz Doll.

And the Bumblebee Bratz doll costume.

Fragoline singing book review

Fragoline singing book review by Snowdrop. Yes this is my little girls favourite book out of all eight books today. She was the first child to finish the Creepy House Library Book Challenge in our area and has her award. But that has not stopped her, as she collected a further eight or nine books today to read this week. She loves writing short stories too and wrote three interesting ones today! The Home Education lady said to me "I can tell she reads a lot of books as her story telling is very good!" She was also impressed with her spelling for her age. It is good to know we are making great progress through homeschool. Children are like plants! If you care for them they will grow to extraordinary heights.

Sassoon singing book review

Sassoon singing book review by Snowdrop. My daughter joined the Library Book Challenge this week and has outdone herself with the amount of books she has read. Yesterday she read thirteen books and today eight. It is lovely to see her enjoying reading, especially when she used to make up words when made to read out loud in school. I adore her little singing book reviews and believe children would enjoy them too. Sassoon is a brilliant book as children love hide-and-seek, and that is just what Sassoon is playing!

Dork, nerd, geek, freak song

"Dork, nerd, geek, freak
Is all you see
But just back off
And let me be ME!"

Here is Snowdrop singing this song from the book Double Dork 2:

My daughter really likes the author of Double Dork. I guess when you are a child and have suffered bullying in school you can relate to certain stories. What a brilliant song! I love it.

Library book challenge 2013 sing-along

Library book challenge 2013, sing-along with Snowdrop. Have you entered your child into the Library book challenge this year? My little girl is on a mission. On Friday she picked up six books and read them all on Monday morning, she also managed to do some singing book reviews for the ones she liked.

Here are some of the books she enjoyed:

DOGS DON'T DO BALLET

RABBIT EARS

TINY'S BIG ADVENTURE

LETTICE THE FLYING RABBIT

TOO HOT TO HUG

Today she picked up eleven books, then saw two more she really wanted to get. Tomorrow she wants to read all thirteen books in one morning. Considering she hated reading last year, I think the above proves she is making huge progress and is really enjoying homeschool. Well done sweetie, keep up the good work!
