STONE COLD GCSE

Melody, my 14 year old, is studying for her English GCSE. We hope to get a copy of the book, Stone Cold. But for now, we are using Videos and Text that is on the Internet. See below for the whole Stone Cold Episodes by the BBC.

OUR TRUE STORY OF MEETING A POOR HOMELESS PERSON ON THE STREET
Last year, just before Christmas, I came across a young lad sitting on the pavement in front of the shopfronts in Swansea (Wales, UK.) It was poring with rain. I gave him £1. He said, "Everyone is walking past him, the Police keep moving him on. Someone peed on him when he tried to sleep!" I got talking to this poor lad. And found out his mother was in prison. He had nowhere to live. The hostels were full. And he needed to beg to raise £20 to stay somewhere safe. To this date, it still breaks my heart. I want to find this poor lad, and make sure he gets the help and support he deserves. When I gave him £20, which family had given to me for Christmas. I could have cried. I wanted to hug him and tell him it will be OK. I feel we must do more for these poor people. After all, that is what being a mother is all about, is it not? Caring for all children!

STONE COLD GCSE

Imagine being told you were entitled to no help, or support because you left your home. Even though you were being bullied. Having no postal address puts you in danger, and rips you of all your human rights! So where is the HELP? Salvation ArmyCentre Point ? Why don't they get any benefit help?

'You mean I'll get no benefit – nothing?'
'Not a sausage, mate, you can take it from me. I've seen it too many times.'

'But – if I don't find work – if it takes a while – how'm I supposed to live?'

He laughed. 'Any way you can, Link old son. Nobody cares, see? Nobody gives a toss. That's the first thing you've gotta learn.' He smiled.

'Why d'you think so many kids beg the punters for change? 'Cause they like it?'

I shook my head. 'Is that what you do – beg?'

'Yep. All day, every day. And sometime I don't make the price of a sandwich.'

'Do – do most people refuse, then?'

'Oh, aye.' He smiled again. “Do you know what a solcredulist is?'

'No.'

'A solcredulist is someone who believes what he reads in the Sun. And do you know what the Sun says – the Sun and thee or four other tabloids?'

I shook my head.

'Well, I'll tell you. They say us kids aren't homeless at all. They say we trick the punters out of their change all day and go home to our mums at night with forty, fifty quid in our pockets, and it all goes on drink and drugs.'

'They don't.'

'They bl—dy do, you know. And the solcredulists believe 'em, and all. That's why they refuse.'

'But it's a lie,' I cried. 'There ought to be a law against it.'

'True.' He laughed. 'There won't be, though.
It's what they all the freedom of the press.'

HOW CAN WE HELP THE HOMELESS?

Firstly, if you are with your parents, don't ignore the homeless. Ask your mum, or dad, to spare a few coins. Help them. Remember, we are the lucky ones with a roof over our head, and food in our belly. They have no family, friends or support.

Research all the Homeless Charities. Take the contact details with you, when you go out with your parents. Ask the Homeless person what help have they received. And if they are aware of all these charities. Get your school involved to gather research, and put together a report. Although we have all these charities, it does not necessarily mean everyone gets help! Maybe, the school could offer them a free meal.
SHELTER HOMELESS CHARITY

THE BIG ISSUE
The Big Issue is meant to give the Homeless free magazines to try and help them on their feet. Then they have to buy the magazines. They cost approximately £1.25 each. And sell at £2.50. Profit £1.25. You would have to sell a lot of magazines to make a living! But some people can do it.

FREE FOOD

I would say foraging in London would be very difficult! And dangerous, if you do not know what is edible. And what's not.

Education is a strange thing. Having cured my Asthma thanks to Dr Greger's You Tube videos. And I know of people that have cured their Cancer through diet. I question are we being taught all we need to know in state School, College, and University?

Dr Greger explains, Doctors are not EDUCATED that a plant based diet cures illness. This is all based on Scientific Evidence! FACTS!

I BELIEVE WE SHOULD HELP THE HOMELESS TO GROW ORGANIC FOODS
GIVE THEM JOBS, A HOME, AND A LIFE WORTH LIVING

WE IMPORT TOO MUCH FRUIT AND VEG. WE HAVE LAND. PUT IT TO USE!
