Welsh Not Film

When we moved to Wales, I was surprised that neighbours sent us Christmas Cards and welcomed us to the village. Not something I had ever experienced in England. There is something special about the Welsh People. Especially the older generation. The History of "Welsh Not," is very sad and I hope one day they will make a film about it. I worked in a school canteen for a while and got to know some of the history, it is not something these ladies would make up as they experienced it first hand and so did their parents. I first found out about "Welsh Not" from one of my neighbours. So find this article where the English Government deny it very sad!

Imagine your toilet overflowing and trying to fix it yourself as a Mum. Well I tried, and the water just kept pouring out onto the street. My neighbour across the road, knocked on the door and told me what was happening and I replied "I don't know what to do?" Bless him, he took his dog back and got his tools and fixed my toilet for free. He also said "If I ever needed any help to just knock the door." His wife is lovely too, they are the sort of people I wish we had more of. Compassion for others goes a long way. Now to make you laugh. Have a listen to our very noisy toilet and my little girls song.

Here are some of my daughters vegetable and fruit pirates,
which helped me with some of the Welsh Language.

ANTIQUE SHIPS TORCH WEYMOUTH, DORSET

My daughter is going to type about her experience when we went in search of an Old Antique Ships Torch her father, Lee Todd, found on Weymouth Beach.

MY STORY BY SNOWDROP

The beginning of September, me and Mum went to try and find the Weymouth Museum. We stopped off at the Library and they gave us a map. The Weymouth Museum was meant to be over the big draw bridge. We got lost and asked locals for directions. When we found the old museum address it had been replaced by a War Museum. We tried to get some information and were told to go to the Heritage Centre. They told us that the Weymouth Museum was meant to re open in 2015 and gave us Dorset Museums Contact details. The kind lady said that all the museums antiques had been packed away in in Brewers Quay. Mummy has emailed Dorset Museum today, so fingers crossed we hear back.

MY DADDY FOUND AN OLD SHIPS TORCH ON WEYMOUTH BEACH

The reason for trying to find the Weymouth Museum was because my Daddy found an old antique ships touch on Weymouth Beach. Daddy gave the touch into the museum when he was just a kid. I really want to find out the history on the antique ships torch he found. And wonder if it looks anything like this one?

MUMMY'S EMAIL TO THE DORSET MUSEUM

Dear Dorset Museum,

OLD ANTIQUE SHIPS TORCH (WEYMOUTH MUSEUM)

My daughter would very much like to see and find out the history of the Antique Ships Torch found by her father, Lee Todd. This item was handed into the Weymouth Museum many years ago, which sadly is now closed and I have been advised this item is in storage with the other museum pieces handed in by the general public.

We very much look forward to hearing from you. The Antique Ships Torch is similar to the Olympic Torch in style. I have been told that we can reclaim this item as part of our family history. Please advise.

Yours faithfully,

Sharon J. Bainbridge
