Japanese knotweed is a well known source of resveratrol since extraction is straightforward and cheap. I believe it is now the only source of resveratrol for skincare applications.
Many large supplement sources of resveratrol use Japanese knotweed and use its scientific name in the supplement labels. Japanese knotweed is a concentrated source of emodin, used as a nutritional supplement to regulate bowel motility. The roots of Japanese knotweed are used in traditional Chinese and Japanese herbal medicines as a natural laxative. The active principle responsible for the laxative effect is emodin, present in its natural form as a complex of its analogues.

APPARENTLY, ONLY EUROPE CARRY OUT THESE COSMETIC TESTS?
I am currently liaising with our Local Independent Council, who support my research on Japanese Knotweed.
What I would like to do is help reduce the carbon footprint. If I can train people up on how to make the soap here in the UK and overseas, then we can keep the plant under control without toxic pesticides. All I need to do is create a video, once I get the soaps tested.
And I hope to create an Organic Face Oil too, at a later date.
At the moment funding is a problem, the soap testing costs £150 per test.
But where there is a will, there is always a way!

Melody, my daughter, was going to have her art and some healthy recipes printed in a Cookbook, which promotes Home Education. Unfortunately, it does not look like this will happen now. We seem to have been the only Home Educators that submitted REALLY healthy recipes. You cannot blame the parents, when most have been State Educated, hence the unhealthy School Dinners. I used to eat badly because of State Education!
So ... it is back to the drawing board! What a shame, as Dr. Michael Greger and his team from Nutrition Facts loved our daughters drawings and recipes!
