THANKFULLY, WE HAVE A HERO IN OUR LOCAL INDEPENDENT COUNCIL (COUNCILLOR KEVIN GRIFFITHS)! OTHERWISE MY VOICE WOULD NOT GET HEARD!
Japanese Knotweed is coming into our garden from our NEW neighbours garden. It is creeping through under the fence. Thankfully, after talking to our new neighbours, they have agreed to use alternative chemical free methods to get rid of this plant from their land. That is, if the Swansea Council help find the solution by using Electricity or Water Blanching. But the deadline is SEPTEMBER 2018. If they were to use a Chemical Company to rid their garden of Japanese Knotweed. Then that would enter our garden, because it is so near our fence. I PRIDE MYSELF ON HAVING A CHEMICAL FREE GARDEN, AND WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!
Our neighbours also have Japanese Knotweed on the other side of their garden, by a brick wall. Near their house. So I quite understand why they wish to get rid of this plant.
My neighbour Frank does not have any Japanese Knotweed in his garden, which proves that if you keep it away from the fence, you will not have a problem with it going into neighbours gardens. In the fifteen years we have lived here, none of our neighbours complained about Japanese Knotweed in our garden. We don't know where it came from, and next door have the same problem.
Here is an email I received recently from Swansea Council Highways:
Hi Sharon, for information the use of the weed killers we use is again under review by the Local Government Association and as part of this process we have been asked to supply any details of other systems we have considered. I hadn’t heard of Rootwave but we had included electrical treatment as one of the other alternatives along with hot water blanching.

PARENTS NEED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON THE DANGERS OF PESTICIDES
I have a right to be concerned about the Toxic Chemicals being used near my garden. My friend, ex TEACHER, has done a lot of research into the danger of using weed killers:
WHAT IS GLYPHOSATE?
MOST WIDELY USED PESTICIDE
Glyphosate is a weed killer, or herbicide. It is the most extensively used pesticides in the world today for both residential and agricultural purposes. Human exposure to glyphosate is widespread.
We recommend avoiding glyphosate-based herbicides due to the mounting safety concerns outlined below.
HOW ARE WE EXPOSED?
INHALATION & INGESTION
Glyphosate can be inhaled or ingested when it is applied to lawns and gardens. After application, we come into contact with glyphosate through plants, soil, air, and food.
Glyphosate used on lawns and in parks can be tracked into our homes on shoes or strollers that have had contact with glyphosate treated surfaces. Residues of glyphosate are detected on some produce as well as in processed foods.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH RISKS?
CANCER, HORMONE DISRUPTION, BIRTH DEFECTS, NERVOUS SYSTEM TOXICITY,
Studies suggest a number of health risks associated with exposure to glyphosate. Children and fetuses are most vulnerable to pesticide exposures due to their developing organ systems and differences in the way they metabolize toxins.
In addition, developmentally normal hand-to-mouth behavior, close proximity to the ground where pesticides settle, and high respiratory rates result in higher exposures in children compared with adults.
MY DAUGHTER HAS ASTHMA AND HAS TO USE INHALERS. BUT HER HEALTH IS BETTER THAN IT USED TO BE. HER PEAK FLOW HAS GONE UP, SINCE GIVING HER MORE FRUIT AND VEG, AND JAPANESE KNOTWEED WATER (CHEMICAL FREE).

HEALTH EDUCATION
Most British people are not educated about chemicals destroying the body. My friend, ex Nurse, warned me about the dangers of Asthma Inhalers. I was in very bad health when I met her. Thanks to her and Home Education, Google took me on an amazing HEALTH journey. I not only managed to loose 2 half stone in weight. But I cured all my health problems, by getting rid of the chemical foods I used to eat. And using plants to heal my body. Americans are far more educated about Health than we are here in the UK!
